“Arkansas Howdy” [Screen Print]
$400.00
This poster was originally designed and printed in 1998 and titled “State of the Union (Where Friends Meet Friends).” It was a response to the Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky affair and includes quotes from newspaper articles about the affair and related investigation. The background image of the receipt is from The Dog House restaurant in Seattle, Washington, where Mark met with designer Art Chantry in the ’90s.
Mark added two images to the poster in 2016, overprinting an image of a wolf’s head in transparent blue and a sum sign in metallic copper. The reworked poster is “Arkansas Howdy.”
The original poster—“State of the Union (Where Friends Meet Friends)”—is in the collection of Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).
