“Unhelpful Instructions” (Teacup)
Instructional materials are intended to organize information and impart knowledge and culture. How we see the world—our framing of it—is driven in part by modes of seeing that we have been taught. “Unhelpful Instructions” repurposes materials meant for teaching—flash cards, songbooks, and linguistic indices—in order to propose new narratives that are personal, idiosyncratic, and far less clear.
